Some Homeopathic History

In the late 1800's there were over 100 Homeopathic hospitals and 22 homeopathic medical schools in the U.S., and one out of five physicians practiced homeopathy. Many of our current medical schools were originally homeopathic schools, such as the University of Michigan Homeopathic Medical School and the New York Homeopathic Medical College represented in the gallery images below.

The Albany Homeopathic Hospital once stood on N. Pearl Street and later became the original Memorial Hospital prior to Memorial's move to its present location.

The American Institute of Homeopathy, founded in 1844, predates the founding of the American Medical Association and is still active today as the national representative of Homeopathic MD's, DO's, PA's, and NP's.

The Homeopathic Medical Society of the State of New York was founded in 1862 and remains an active organization today for physicians who support homeopathy.
